This month in guidance, I am introducing myself to the students. We are talking about what a school counselor does and when and why you might need to talk to one. We talk about how school counselors are a little bit like superheros! They use their senses to find students who might need help. Ask your child what was in my bag of tricks and what the word "flexible" means!
*****Every teacher has a different time and day that I will visit each month, so before reviewing, ask your child if they have met Mrs. Hays, the school counselor yet?!!******
Our word of the month is "Safety!" Ask your child, "What does it mean to be safe in the classroom, playground, hallways, bus, etc. ? Why is it important to be safe?
Does your child know what "Voice choice "0" means?
What kind of feet should we have in the hallway? (walking feet)
What kind of body should we have? (calm body)
What are the rules of our school? (Be safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible)
IMG_0460.jpgAt the ECC, we talk about being "Bucket Fillers!" Bucket fillers are people who use kind words and actions to fill other's imaginary buckets. When we use unkind words and actions, we are being bucket dippers. We all want to focus on filling each other's buckets, not being dippers!
