Happy February ECC families! I hope are surviving the winter months and staying healthy! This month in classroom guidance we are talking about having a "growth mindset." This concept coincides with our word of the month, "Perseverance." This is the perfect month to practice these concepts as the curriculum gets more challenging for our kindergarteners! We will be talking about how our brain grows when we challenge it and how important it is to keep trying and not give up! For examples and book suggestions, please see below!
When you have a Growth Mindset, you say things like:
-Mistakes help my brain grow
-Is this really my best work?
-I am going to take a deep breath and work hard!
-I am on the right track!
-I am going to train my brain!
-I can't do this...YET!!!!
****Parents: Practice having a growth mindset by role modeling these sayings and asking your child for examples of having a growth mindset****
When you have a "fixed" mindset, you say things like:
-I can't do this
-I give up!
-This is too hard!
-It's good enough
