A PEEK AT OUR WEEK

This week is fire safety week. We learned about firefighters and fire safety. 🚒
We LOVED using watercolor paint to paint fall leaves. 🍂
We took out books from the School #6 Library this week. Don't forget to send books back in on Day 6. Please see the district calendar for our six day cycle!
Our class has Picture Day on Wednesday, October 15th. Don't forget to wear your best smile!

PRACTICE AT HOME

FUNDATIONS

We love to wake up "Mama Echo" and "Baby Echo" each day. They help us learn our letters and sounds! In the first unit, we will learn how to identify lowercase letters and sounds.

HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS

In Kindergarten, we will learn to identify and write high frequency words (sight words). We will also practicing using high frequency words in full sentences. For example, "I am ____ years old."

In math, we continued learning how to compare groups. Great work, Little Mathematicians!

WRITING

Students will continue writing their names on their classwork each day. Please encourage your child to use all lowercase letters for their name except the first letter. Happy Writing!

Friday, October 31st is our Halloween Storybook Parade at the School #6 track. More information (including time) to follow!
We do not distribute edible goody bags (NO candy, treats, etc.) for this or any other event in our school. Non-edible goody bags are permitted (but not required!).
A special note to parents who work: Please do not feel any sense of obligation to attend this event if it causes you stress at work. It is a short and sweet event (about 15-20 minutes in total). There will be other occasions that are far more important for you to attend, including Field Day, as well as other classroom events. Many children will not have a family member present at this parade so please relieve yourself of any guilt! Feel free to send a grandparent or family friend.

REMINDERS

There is no school on Monday, October 13th.
Our class has Picture Day on October 15th. Don't forget to wear your best smile!
Every FRIDAY is Sailor Spirit Day! Feel free to dress your child in School #6/Oceanside gear, anchors, or anything blue!
Please empty your child's folder each day after school!
We are a NUT free school. Please send the label of ingredients for foods that are not in packaging.
Please remember that the children must wear closed-toe shoes to participate in recess and gym on Day 3.
Please don't forget to send library books back in on Day 6. Check out the district calendar on the district website to follow our six day cycle!
Please continue to bring your ID with you at dismissal. It is a School #6 policy to always have your ID with you at dismissal. In the event that there is a substitute teacher, you will be required to show identification.
