OCDSB END OF KINDERGARTEN TARGETS

The OCDSB has set three very important targets for the end of year 2 Kindergarten


The targets set by the OCDSB are developmentally appropriate, based on the The Kindergarten Program (2016), and designed to move students towards becoming fluent readers and writers beyond Kindergarten. 

These targets were selected because they are highly predictive of future reading and writing success and are in line with expectations from The Kindergarten Program (2016) and the Language Foundations Continuum for Reading and Writing from the Language curriculum, Grades 1 to 8 (2023). 

These targets support teams by providing specific information about what typically developing students will be able to achieve with effective instruction

As a resource to support the acquisition of phonological awareness and alphabetic knowledge, TSTL is built around, but not limited to, the following goals from the Kindergarten Program (2016).
