Light Composition
We want to use changes in the color and intensity of light to symbolize transformations in the sky, such as sunrise and sunset, the blue hour, twinkling stars, shooting stars, and the aurora. Our installation is a box designed to simulate a window. When viewers look into the box, it feels as though they are gazing at the sky through a window. We also use a layer of baking paper to diffuse the light, in order to make it softer and give it a stronger sense of spatial depth. We also carefully arranged the positions of the lights as well. For example, the LED strip used to create the blue hour effect is placed at the very back, allowing blue light to fill the entire box. In contrast, the lights representing stars are put closer to the front, so individual lights and their flickering can be clearly seen.
