Global Media Scholars Checklist
Congratulations on your acceptance to MCC's Global Media Scholars program! We are excited for this incredible journey you are about to start! Now that you're accepted, review the GMS checklist to stay on track throughout your year abroad.
Learn more about your global site (academics, student life, housing, calendar):
Pre-departure (Fall Semester):
Apply to NYU Study Away for the spring semester by the September 15 priority deadline. Space is limited so you must apply by this deadline.
Meet with your MCC academic advisor to get cleared for spring registration or attend the Study Away Group Pre-registration session. Review your program of study and discuss your plan with your advisor. As a Global Media Scholar, you must enroll in the Global Media Seminar at your global site.
Read your emails from the NYU Study Away Advisors in regards to pre-departure items.
Attend the GMS Pre-departure Session with your GMS cohort and the GMS Coordinator.
While You're Abroad (Spring Semester):
Apply to NYU Study Away for the fall semester by the February 15 priority deadline. Space is limited so you must apply by this deadline.
Schedule a pre-registration appointment with your MCC academic advisor in order to get cleared for fall registration. As a Global Media Scholar, you must enroll in the Global Media Seminar at your global site.
Attend events organized by your GMS Site Ambassador.
While You're Abroad (Fall Semester):
Email your proposed Spring course schedule to your MCC academic advisor in order to get cleared for spring registration.
Attend events organized by your GMS Site Ambassador.
When You Return:
Attend the GMS welcome back lunch with your GMS cohort and GMS Coordinator.
Attend a GMS Information Session for prospective students and/or a New Student Seminar Study Away Panel.
Enroll in the special Global Media Capstone during your senior fall.
Travel to an NYU Global site over the January term.
