Questions you may have about registering for internship credit.
Any MCC Student can intern for credit as long as you have completed 64 credits or more before the start of the term in which you plan to intern for credit. This includes AP credits.
This means we are missing one or both of your forms. If you completed the online registration form, and if your supervisor says they've submitted the online Internship Agreement form, it might not have gone through. Please double check that they've completed it. The Agreement form may have gone into your supervisor's spam folder.
There are NO access codes. Only Olivia Battinelli, our internship coordinator can register you once we have received both forms and have confirmed eligibility. It is not an automatic process, so we'll check everything and register you as soon as we can.
Once we receive everything, and confirm eligibility, we will register you. Only once you are registered, can we write you a letter confirming that you are registered. In your supervisor's form, they can request a confirmation letter. No one can write a letter confirming credit if the credit is not actually confirmed. We can develop this letter very quickly after everything is complete.
You can find the Internship Evaluation Standards listed on the registration guide. While there is no weekly meeting, there are assignments due throughout the semester (introductory reflection, discussion posts, final assignment etc.) and a mandatory Internship Workshop, held on a date to be determined by the Internship Coordinator. The workshop is ONLY during Fall and Spring semesters.
Absolutely! If you are getting paid (awesome!), but you also want to do the internship for credit in order to get a little ahead (or catch up), OR to free up some time to intern more, that is totally up to you. International students must be registered for CPT or OPT in order to get paid.
All international students must be approved for CPT or OPT in order to intern anywhere outside of NYU and/or in order to be paid. You cannot register for CPT unless you are registered for internship credit. OPT takes several months to process, so often times (but not always) CPT is the best option. Once you complete the steps above, you should follow the instructions on OGS's website. If you have not registered for credit, we will not submit your CPT form. Please also remember that if you have no free credits left in Unrestricted or Restricted Electives, then you cannot be approved for CPT.
Please remember that the Internship Credits can only be counted in either your Professional/Restricted or Unrestricted Electives. Also, you have a maximum of 6 internship credits you can utilize during your time in MCC. Students enrolled in the NODEP-UA 9982 Experiential Learning Seminar at the NYU-LA campus can exceed the MCC 6-credit internship limit to accommodate the required 4-credit course at NYU-LA. This raises the maximum credits to 8. Internship credits must be applied to professional or unrestricted electives only.
