How Advising Works

Mission Statement

It is the mission of Applied Statistics, Social Science, and Humanities Advising to support students in their academic, professional, and personal development while also empowering them to take responsibility for their own growth in these areas.

Academic Advisors are available throughout the semester to discuss academic issues, such as registration, areas of study, dropping and adding classes after the registration deadline, etc. Within the first few weeks of the semester, students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor to discuss and review their course of study. Transfer students will receive a copy of their Statement of Transfer Credit which formally records any incoming transfer units or advanced standing. A copy of the Statement of Transfer Credit and the program Advising Matrix will be kept on file. Each student should have a copy of the Advising Matrix, as it is the primary map for the program.

Academic Advising

The advising staff in Applied Statistics, Social Science, and Humanities (ASH) Department strive to create a supportive environment and empower students to take responsibility for their own growth.
