As an Education Studies major, you will have the opportunity to specialize and to develop expertise in one Area of Specialization (16 required credits). There are three different Areas of Specialization, detailed below. Students will select and Area of Specialization through advisement, and seek out courses in the area with their advisor, and through their Academic Planner. Part or all of these courses may be completed through NYU Study Abroad or Steinhardt Global Affairs, and also fulfill the required Global Component. Some courses listed below may have prerequisites or restricted access based on major, location, or program.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
New students (freshmen, transfer, and Liberal Studies) joining the major in Fall 2025 and onward will follow the "Effective Fall 2025" list. All other continuing students will follow the "Prior to Fall 2025" list unless you've communicated with your advisor about changing to the new curriculum. -last updated on 06/24/2025
