Jing-lan Joy Wu is Associate Professor at the Department of English, National Taiwan Normal University. She received her Ph.D. in Linguistics in 2006 from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York. Her research interests include functional syntax (in particular Role and Reference Grammar) and linguistic typology. She has devoted herself to the study of Formosan languages (especially Amis) from the functional-syntactic perspective since early 1990s. She has published academic papers in renowned journals such as Language and Linguistics and Concentric: Studies in Linguistics and two grammars based on different Amis dialects. In addition, she has been actively engaged in various projects related to the revitalization of Formosan languages. Her services to the field include referring for conferences and journals such as Language and Linguistics, Concentric: Studies in Linguistics, Taiwan Journal of Linguistics, Oceanic Linguistics, etc., and serving as one of the chief editors for Concentric: Studies in Linguistics (Volumes 35.1~36.2, and 40.1~40.2) and one of the main organizers for Thirteenth International Conference on Austronesian Linguistics (13-ICAL) in 2015.
