Being a parent or carer can be really tough at times, particularly when you are concerned about a child or young persons mental health and wellbeing. You may be feeling a whole variety of emotions, you may have tried many different approaches and find it hard to know what to do for the best to support the young person.
You are not alone
There are key services available to parents and carers who are concerned about their child.
Parents and carers helpline
YoungMinds is a national charity.
The Parents Helpline is a telephone helpline if you are worried about a child or young person, up to the age of 25 years, regarding emotional problems, behaviour or mental health. You can call the free helpline for confidential, expert advice.
You’ll get through to a trained adviser who will talk through the problem and listen to your concerns and questions in complete confidentiality. Your adviser will help you to understand your child’s behaviour and give you practical advice on where to go next.
Parents webchat and email service
YoungMinds parents webchat and email service provides information and signposting to help parents and carers to find the information they are looking for with regards to their child's mental health.
They offer a language translation service on their webchat and email service. You can chat or send an email in the language of your choice, and they will translate their advice and guidance for you.
