Safeguarding is a crucial part of your work as a care assistant.
It is the practice of being vigilant for and reporting abuse, or any other issue that might put a vulnerable person at risk of harm.
You have a legal duty to report abuse, whether it is perpetrated by a colleague or by somebody unknown to you.
You can also breach the privacy and confidentiality of a service user if it is justified to prevent harm.
Guidance should always be sought if you are unsure, since this an area with many conflicts & dilemmas.
