If you're working for us on an hourly rate, you'll want to understand how the pay works.
Paid by the Visit
Currently we are paying our paid by the visit staff at a different rate for walkers and drivers, which are each enhanced at weekends.
You'll need to refer to your contract for the specific pay rates, but they are all the same across all our staff, i.e. all the paid by visit walkers are paid the same, and so are the drivers except for their enhanced pay rate over the walkers.
You get a comparatively generous hourly rate because it incorporates your travel time and expenses.
You are paid for the time you spend at visits, which is rounded up to the nearest quarter of an hour.
Therefore, if you are at a 30 minute call and it runs over to 35 minutes, you will be paid 45 minutes.
A 20 minute visit will be rounded up to 30 minutes, and so on.
The reason for this pay structure is linked to how we are funded by social services and paid by private clients, which is linked to the care hours we actually deliver.
Paid by the Hour
Another pay structure we operate is paid by the hour, which works like traditional hourly pay, i.e. a rate is applied to consecutive hours from the start to the finish of the shift.
The rate is lower than the above, but is it paid throughout travel time as well as visits.
Gaps of 30 minutes or longer are treated as an unpaid break, eg. the short gap between breakfast and lunch visits.
There is also a mileage payment associated with this pay structure.
This pay structure is usually available to drivers only since they are able to travel quickly from visit to visit and cover a wider area, but we also consider it for people using alternative means of transport where they can demonstrate they are able to travel effectively.
Again, this is due to our funding - we are simply not able to afford to offer this pay structure to people on foot because they take longer to get from A to B and we can only invoice for the care hours delivered.
If walkers do want to take advantage of this pay structure we can help with moped schemes and so on to enable them to do so.
Salaries
Our salaried positions are relatively new, but we're very excited about them. We hope to attract great staff with an excellent work ethic and provide stable employment in return, and so far it's going great!
We're paying a monthly salary which will be detailed in your contracts - this salary is fixed each month.
The working hours we set are 07:00-14:00 and 16:00-21:00 on your days on, which are 7 in every 14 in a euro shift pattern as per the table below:
Obviously with the nature of your work these hours may vary slightly - there will be days when the start and finish times are up to half an hour outside or inside these times, but we anticipate you averaging out at 7 hours AM & 5 hours PM. This is equivalent to 42 hours per week including travel time.
