Week 2 Lessons (Monday March 23rd)

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend filled with lots of love, fun, and laughter! I miss you guys so much! Hopefully I will get to see pictures of you all wearing your favorite Super Hero Outfit for Spirit Week this week! Please see below for speech sound lessons, expressive/receptive languag lessons, stuttering, and social skills lessons! Please email me at manuellal@norwalktruclers.net if you have questions! Make sure to keep checking my site throughout the week for new lessons!

Speech Sound Lesson

Find a plain piece of paper and fold the paper into thirds (3 sections). In the first section write " beginning," in the second section write "middle", and in the third section write "end". Then, choose a book to read at home and have your child look for words with their target speech sound and write the words on the paper whether their target sound is at the beginning, middle, or end of the word. (Example for S sound: sand-beginning, messy-middle, house-last). Have them practice saying the words they find.

Expressive & Receptive Language Level 1

Please see below for Expressive/Receptive Language Lesson-Level 1. Have your child label items that belong to cateogies and then have them follow the directions for finding the leprochaun that is "in" the pot of gold, "under" the pot of gold, etc.

*If you do not have access to a printer, just have your child point to the correct answers or tell you the answers aloud!

Expressive & Receptive Language-Level 2

Please see below for Expressive/Receptive Language-Level 2 activity below. Please read each paragraph (By: SuperDuper Publications), answer the comprehension questions, and then sequence the events in order (first, second, third, fourth, and fifth). Have your child sequence the events in order using complete sentences.

Stuttering Lesson

Have your child start by talking about how their stuttering has been over the past week. Ask them about what feelings they have about their talking. You can have them draw a picture about the way they feel. This can sometimes help them open up to you about talking about their true feelings. After, have your child watch this inspirational video from children (it is not specifically about stuttering). It is a great way to talk about how your child's communication has a lot of positives. This will allow their confidence to boost and allow them to know that even though they stutter, they can achieve anything!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGusd0HKvtY

Have your child click on the link to the left and watch the video about seeing someone else's side. Discuss the following questions your child.

*What was the problem in the video?

*How did the boy feel?

*How did the girl feel?

*Did the boy use "expected" (good choice) or "unexpected" (poor choice) behaviors?

*What is the most appropriate solution for the problem?
