For this unit, you will build on your pinch method skills to create three pinch method bottles.

Recommended sizing
1 small bottle: 3 inches minimum height (2 limes of clay)
1 medium bottle: 4 inches minimum height (2 lemons worth of clay)
1 large bottle: 5 inches minimum height (2 oranges worth of clay)
2.5 lbs of clay maximum per bottle

Each bottle must be a minimum of 5" tall and a maximum of 8"
Each bottle must have a body, shoulder, and neck
Wall thickness MUST NOT EXCEED 3/8"
One bottle must be sprigged/have a minimum of 30 small pieces of clay added to it or 75% must be covered by added clay (make thinner bc you will be adding clay to it).
One bottle must be incised or carved (Make thicker bc you will be carving clay off the wall/from it) MUST BE CARVED WHEN CLAY IS LEATHERHARD
One bottle must be “pierced” at least ten times or more. NO hearts, stars, or daisies, etc--representational piercing. MUST BE PIERCED WHEN CLAY IS LEATHERHARD
Each bottle must have a least one neck
Each bottle should have an additive foot
NO wobble of form due to uneven foot
All evidence of the pinch method (pinch marks) is erased
Your work should not be “representational” (no snakes, hearts, wings, octopi, stars, moons, sun, etc.) This includes your piercing and decoration and not just the forms.
Pacing: One bottle a week for three weeks
Remember that your bottle should have 4 key parts to it:
1) A foot
2) A body
3) A shoulder
4) A neck
