What is changing and what staff need to do

We are establishing NIHR Coordinating Centre to reduce the perceived complexity of how we are managed. The key changes that are taking place are summarised below with guidance and actions that are needed to be taken by staff.

We have also developed new NIHR First Communications Guidance to help raise the visibility of the NIHR brand.

NIHR Coordinating Centre

Five centres (CCF, CED, NETSCC, NIHR Academy Executive and NOCRI) will now be presented collectively as NIHR Coordinating Centre (NIHRCC) on our governance page, and Staff in the component centres will use the “NIHR Coordinating Centre” designation in the company field on the NIHR Hub Directory and in their email signature.

Cross-NIHR functions such as Communications and Nursing and Midwifery will belong within NIHRCC.

Role Titles in NIHRCC

Some staff will have new NIHRCC role titles, such as senior leaders within the component centres.

To provide more context for your NIHR colleagues and stakeholders we are asking all staff to review the wording of your current ‘Job Title’ field on the NIHR Hub Directory and add in an additional descriptor if required. This descriptor should be in title case - ie Capital Initials for all Major Words.  It should provide an easy-to-understand summary of the business area you support, which may be different to the name of the team you are part of within your coordinating centre structure.

For many roles there may not be a need to provide further information such as Impact Manager in the examples provided here. Your line manager or team lead will provide additional guidance on this.

Implementation Leads within your component centre will also be able to provide additional guidance if you need help.

Changes to the NIHR Hub Directory for NIHRCC and CRNCC staff

The NIHR Hub Directory is a valuable resource for all staff to be able to find colleagues and understand their role within the organisation. The aim is to improve the information hosted within the Directory so you can find people more easily.

The fields that are mandatory for inclusion in your Directory profile
from 21 March are as follows

For more details on how to check and change your profile see the updated NIHR Hub Directory Guidance

We also strongly encourage you to include your photograph. Description text such as working hours and preferred pronouns will be pulled through to your email signature.
