This page will teach you how to access and use the Electric Mayhem Logistics App.
The Electric Mayhem app is where you pick your jobs, sign in and out of your work, take training quizzes, sign up for outreach events and contests, and check how your season is going. This page walks through every part of it.
The pictures on this page come from a test copy of the app with fictional students. Your screens will show your own name, jobs and stats.
Open the App
Open electric-mayhem-logistics.web.app in the web browser on your phone (Safari on an iPhone, Chrome on Android). You can also open it on a laptop.
1. Tap Sign in with Google.
2. Pick your @nicholsschool.org account. Personal Gmail accounts will not work.
3. The Home screen opens with your name at the top.
The app is invite-only. Your coaches add you to the team list first. If the app says "Not on the list yet," ask a mentor to add you, then sign in again.
Put the app on your home screen
The app works best when you add it to your phone's home screen. It then opens like a regular app, and it can send you reminders.
• iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
• Android (Chrome): tap the three-dot menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
Home is where every part of the app starts. Under your name you see your team and any award you hold. Each card opens a mini app:
• Project Management: pick your jobs and plan the week
• Training & Quizzes: get certified in your skills
• Side Projects: the project you take care of
• Outreach Events: sign up to help at events
• Competitions: sign up for contests
• Event Scouting: scouting tools for contests
• Purchase Request: ask the team to buy something
• Polls & Surveys: answer team questions
• Electric Mayhem Games: play when games are on
The bar at the bottom has three tabs: Home, Docs & Links, and Me. Inside a mini app the bottom bar changes to that mini app's tabs. Tap Home to get back.
Project Management is the part of the app you will use most. It is where you sign up for the work you do each week.
The 10-hour week
Sports credit students are with us 13 hours a week. You sign up for 10 hours of jobs each week, done during regular meeting time. The other 3 hours are for team meetings and breaks.
Work of Life students sign up for 11.5 hours a week, because they do 1.5 extra hours outside of meeting time.
Only job time counts toward your 10 hours. Being at a work session is not the same as doing a job, so sign in to your jobs while you work on them.
The Project Management Screen
• Reminders: things you still need to do this season, like registering with FIRST or passing the General Safety Quiz
• This week's jobs: your jobs for this week. Sign in and out, mark jobs done.
• Pick next week's jobs: sign up for next week
• Projects: every project this season
• Timeline: every project from start to deadline
• All tasks: look up any task
• Needs attention and Marked done this week: what is behind and what got finished
Reminders
Reminders lists what you still owe the team this season. Quizzes come off the list when you pass them. Button time, filament recycling, FIRST registration and the FLL mentoring week are checked off by a coach.
This week's jobs
The bar at the top shows how many hours you have picked out of 10. My week shows the time you signed in to jobs each day, and how many of your jobs are due that day.
Under Your jobs is every job you signed up for this week. Each one has its own buttons:
• Sign in when you start working on the job. The button changes to Sign out. Tap it when you stop.
• Done when the job is completely finished.
• Not finished: renew when the week is ending and the job is not finished (see below).
• Drop if you signed up by mistake.
Picking jobs
Use Pick next week's jobs to sign up for next week, and This week's jobs to add more for this week. Below your jobs are the jobs you can sign up for, in this order:
1. Do these first: required jobs, like a training quiz you still need or your cleaning job. They stay on your list every week until they are done.
2. My Side Projects: jobs for the side project you take care of.
3. More jobs: cards for Project jobs, Stand-alone jobs, Other Side Projects, and Cleaning and upkeep. Tap a card to see its jobs.
Use the filters to narrow the list: pick a work area (Strategy, CAD, Engineering, Programming, Marketing, Documentation or Team Harmony), change the sort, search, or tick Only jobs that fit my hours left.
Tap Sign up on a job to add it to your week. Some jobs can take 2 kids, and they split the hours. Jobs in a project are listed in the order the work happens. A job that is waiting on earlier steps is not shown on the job pages until it is ready.
Done, or renew
When a job is finished, tap Done. If it is not finished, do not mark it Done. Before the week is over:
1. Open This week's jobs and find the job under Your jobs.
2. Pick how many more hours it needs.
3. Tap Not finished: renew.
The job keeps everything done so far and moves onto your list for next week. If the extra time would put you over your hours for next week, it is not added for you. It stays on the task list, and you can sign up for it again when you have room.
The task page
Tap a job's name to open its page. It shows the work area, the hours, how many kids it takes, the due date, and the project it belongs to. If a critical job is going to be late, tap Mark delayed. A delayed critical job also delays the jobs that come after it, so the team can see the problem.
Making a new task
Any student can make a new task. Tap New task at the bottom, pick the work area, and fill in the rest. To add a task to a project, open the project and tap Add a task instead.
About
The About tab has Scheduling Jobs (the hours rules on this page) and the Full Task List, every kind of task in each work area.
Quizzes are how you get certified in safety, team culture, tools and the game. The tabs at the bottom are the quiz groups: Culture, Tools, EXPO and Games.
1. Pick a tab, then pick a quiz from Choose a quiz.
2. The quiz shows how many questions it has and the pass mark (usually 80%).
3. Answer the questions and submit. You see your score right away.
If you do not pass, you can try again after 24 hours. The box at the top shows which required quizzes you have passed this season.
Some quizzes are required. Some quizzes are optional. All Quizzes are based on Knowledge Base Articles.
Passing quizzes also unlocks power-ups in the games (see section 11) and some outreach roles (see section 6).
Every student takes care of a side project, like Howard the Fish Robot or RoboKart. The people who take care of a project are its custodians.
My Project
• Status: Ready to go, Working on small repairs, Needs an overhaul, or Not in use this season. Keep it up to date.
• There are 7 things every project needs each season: the Knowledge Base article, the public website article, photos, an internal video, a public video, quiz questions, and the GitHub repo. Paste the link for each one as you finish it.
• Volunteer for an extra project if you want to take care of a second one.
• Step down from this project if you can no longer take care of it.
If you do not have a project yet, apply from this tab. Every Student on the team should be Custdian to atleast one project.
Projects
The Projects tab lists every side project, who takes care of it, and its mentor advisor. Anyone can report a problem with a project. A project with no custodian cannot go to an event until someone takes it.
Boxes
The Boxes tab shows the boxes each project's parts are kept in. Each Box has a unique QR code on it. Boxes need to be signed out of the room and signed back in when they come back. If we lose a box, the App will remember who scanned it last and where they were at the time.
The Events tab lists upcoming outreach events.
The Name of the event, the Date and the Venue appear on each Event Card. The card also says how many people we need to Volunteer for the event.
An orange tag on an event needs more people. Tap Open to see the details.
Signing up
Each event has student roles, like Demo driver or Activity helper. Tap Sign up under the role you want. Some roles need a quiz, like the Ambassador or Expo Etiquette quiz. Without it, you can still join as a shadow and learn from the others.
Tap Open in Maps for directions.
On the day
Open the event and tap I am here: sign in when you arrive. Sign-in opens one hour before the event. Sign out when you leave. Your sign-in and sign-out times are your outreach hours. If you forget, ask the event leader to add your hours.
The My Hours tab shows your outreach hours for the season.
The Contests tab lists every contest this season, which of our teams are going, and when sign-up closes.
1. Tap Open on a contest.
2. Sign up. Sign-up closes 14 days before the contest.
3. Pick a role for each shift. Use Same role in every shift to fill them all at once.
Mentors and coaches can still change who goes after you sign up.
Event Scouting has the tools we use at contests. The FTC and FRC tabs list each program's tools: the strategy simulation, pit scouting (interviewing teams in their pits), match scouting (scoring a robot during matches), scouting charts, the pick lists, and useful websites. The Scout tab is where you do the scouting.
Before you can do scouting at a contest, you have to be trained. There will be training sessions before each competition season begins.
Use New request to ask the team to buy something.
1. Type what you want, the quantity and the price of one.
2. Pick what it is for: one of your tasks, or General supplies.
3. Pick which program pays (12736 Green, 12737 White, 4930 FRC, or STEM Lab).
4. Paste the link to the item and tap Send the request.
Mr. Hiller or Mr. Coburn check requests off when they order them. The My requests tab shows each request as Waiting, Purchased or Declined. It updates every night. You can cancel a request while it is still waiting.
The Take tab shows open polls and surveys, the ones closing soonest on top. Tap one to answer. A poll is one question. A survey can have up to 10. Some are anonymous. Others show names.
Anyone can make a poll on the New poll tab. The Results tab shows the answers. Only Mentors and WoL students can make surverys.
Important data is kept all season. Trivial data gets deleted after a week.
We wrote a couple games for team members to play on the bus or at a venue during down time. Mentors can turn games off (for example, during work time). When they are off you can look at the high scores, but you cannot play.
• BioBuzz Invaders: defend against the bees. Passing quizzes this season unlocks power-ups: 2 quizzes gives an extra life, 5 a shield, 10 a double shot, and 15 a spread shot. You can switch any of them off on the title screen for a harder game.
• Mayhem Man: guide our logo through the maze and keep away from the bees. You get 1% faster for every 3 hours of work sessions this season, up to 40%.
• Word Game: a scabble game for 2 to 4 teammates. With 25 outreach hours this season, your 1-point letters are worth 2. With 50 hours, once per game you can slide a double or triple word square one space before you play.
The High scores tab shows the season's best scores for everyone and for each team.
The Me tab shows how your season is going. The numbers update when a coach ends a work session, and every night.
This Year
• Whether you are registered with FIRST, and your personal data card
• Team requirements: your cleaning job, filament recycling, button making, and the sports credit question, which you answer here
• Work sessions: your work session hours and your attendance (the goal is 80%)
• Task hours: the time you signed in to jobs this week and this season
• Training quizzes passed, your side project checklist, and your outreach hours
All Time and Graphs
All Time will show your totals across every season you have been on the team. For now it matches This Year, except training quizzes, which already count every season. Graphs shows the team's numbers as charts, for all students or for your program.

Work of Life students are the team's student leaders. They see a few more things in the app:
• 11.5 hours a week of jobs instead of 10
• A New project tab in Project Management for making projects from the templates
• New survey in Polls & Surveys, and survey results
• Making outreach events and filing the after-action report
• Adding the other teams, the Event Talking Points link and the awards to contests
Close the app and open it again. That loads the newest version. If it still does not work, tell Mr. Hiller what you tapped and what happened. A screenshot helps.
