This article startup and usage information for the filament creator and spooler. It details how to set each one up, how to start the spooling process, and how to ensure the filament is being created properly.
1. Make sure the filament creator is turned on. The indicator light on the switch is nonfunctional, so make sure the screen on front is on.
2. By turning the knob, set the temperature to 180°C, then press the knob in to select. The filament creator should display
"<some value>/180.0°C Heating!"
1. If the cooling fans aren't turned on, use the indicated switch on the back of the spooler to turn them on.
2. If the spooler hasn't been used in a while, reset the it by unplugging and replacing the cord on the side. If possible, make sure the spool attached is a blue-gray elegoo spool, as those work best. Otherwise, a cardboard spool would be preferred.
3. Use the knob to set the mode to
"> Manual", then press the knob to select.
4. Set the diameter to "1.75" using the knob, then select.
5. Turn the knob counterclockwise until the yellow spooling traverse reaches the back plate, then select.
6. Bring the traverse out by rotating the knob clockwise until it reaches the inside edge of the spool, then select. For a blue-gray spool, the displayed value should be "8".
7. The spooler will then move the traverse out to the end. Bring it to the outside edge of the spool by rotating the knob counterclockwise. For a blue-gray spool, the displayed value should be "40".
8. Set the "PullSpeed" value to "0.93" by turning the knob if necessary, then select.
Once the filament creator has heated to 180°C, it will start extruding filament. Make sure that there is chopped-up PLA in the funnel on top, otherwise it won't have anything to extrude. Once it starts extruding, manually guide the filament through the route shown by the red line, then insert the filament into the indicated hole in the center of the spool.
During spooling, the screen on the spooler should display a diameter. If the value is consistently above 1.75, use the knob to scroll to the "PullSpeed" value, then select. Lower the value slightly, then select again. If the value is consistently below 1.75, follow the above steps to raise the "PullSpeed" value slightly. You will need to keep an eye on the PLA in the funnel, since it may occasionally need to be agitated to ensure a steady feed.
