At any FTC event, roles are important. People must work together and do their job for the event to go smoothly. There are multiple roles at an event. Each role has an important part in team success. I will explain these roles, and you will learn what each one does to help the team.
The Driver is part of the Drive team. They control the way the robot is facing and the direction the robot is going. When they are not playing a match, they can be seen practicing their skills at the practice fields with the operator .
The operator is mostly the same as the driver. The operator is part of the Drive team. They control everything but the drivetrain. This commonly consists of the arm, slides, and intake. When they are not playing a match, they could be seen practicing their skills at the practice fields with the Driver.
The human player is also part of the drive team. They usually introduce game pieces to the field. They are not guaranteed to participate in every match. When they are not playing a match, they could be seen in the pit or on the practice field.
The coach is the last part of the drive team. They give callouts to the driver and operator during the match. They keep track of how much time is left and essentially coach the team. When they are not playing, they could be seen speaking with their next match's teammate and strategizing their next match. They would speak about autos and teleop and figure of the best strategy.
The photographer takes photos and videos at every event. We recommend them to photograph every event and have fun. they are important to our marketing
During an event, there are commonly 4-8 scouters. These people answer questions during the match about other teams' robots, skills, and performance. This information is useful in alliance selection because we can choose the best team for the most success during playoffs.
There are multiple parts to the pit crew. We will work with the Robot pit crew. This consists of people who repair the robot in between matches and people who improve or fix the programming. They also keep track of batteries and make sure the robot is running smoothly.
These people are always in the pits. They keep it organized and talk with judges or people who have questions. They know what to say, and they help us win the biggest award, the Inspire Award. They are the reason we can win this award.
