Screencastify will allow you to record your screen, voice and even use your webcam to record your face! This google chrome extension is super easy to use and is easily shareable to anyone.

Getting Started

1. Go onto the Google Web Store

2. Use the search bar and type in "screencastify". Press enter.

Hint: Make sure that the option "extensions" underneath the search bar is blue.

3. The first extension to come up should be "Screencastify- Screen Video Recorder"; click this extension.

4. A dialog box will come up with a description of the extension and in the top right corner, in a blue box, it will ask if you would like to "add to chrome". Click this button.

5. Another dialog box will come up in which it will ask "Add 'Screencastify-Screen Video Recorder'?" and at the bottom of the dialog box there will be a button that says "Add Extensions". Click this button.

6. A download box will appear on the bottom left of the screen. When it is finished downloading, the screencastify icon will come up in the google chrome task bar.

Hint: it will look like a small piece of black film.

7. Click the extension and it will open up a separate tab in which you will be asked if you would like to store your recordings on Google Drive or on the device. Select your preferred option and click next.

8. Whether you chose Google Drive or the device, Screencastify will prompt you to sign into your Google account. Click Sign in and sign into Google.

9. Screencastify will then ask you what you identify as: educator, student, etc.

10. Your Screencastify is ready to use!

Q: Does this extension cost anything?

A: No, however, if you are not satisfied with the default features of Screencastify, you can very easily upgrade to a different package.

Q: How can I share my screencast?

A: If the Screencastify is saved on Google Drive, you can very easily get the shareable link and share your screencastify with everyone!

Q: Can the Screencastify extension be used on any browser besides google chrome?

A: Although you do not need to use Chrome to view a screencast, in order to use the extension you must use Google Chrome

Q: How easy will it be for other people to see my screencast once I send them the link?

A: Super easy! Once the person clicks on the screencastify link they will automatically be redirected and the screencast will automatically start playing.

Q: What are my recording options on Screencastify?

A: You can record only your tab, your entire screen, or only your face. You can also opt to use just the microphone, or microphone and camera. The options on Screencastify are limitless!
