1. Arrive at Dropbox.com and choose to login in or create an account.
2. To upload a file, click the upload button at the top right of the screen.
3. On the menu that appears, click 'Choose Files'.
4. Go to the where the file you want to share resides. Highlight it and then click the 'Open' button.
5. Here you will arrive at the upload menu where you can either choose to 'add more files'. Once you are done adding files, click on 'done'.

4. Here you will come up to a menu with two text fields. The top is for the email address of the person you are sharing the file with. The bottom text field is for an optional message to that person.
When done, click 'Share folder'.

Once you get the link, you can send it by email, Facebook, Twitter, instant message, social networks, wherever you want.
