1. Is Brain Pop free?
- No. If your school or district does not have a subscription, you will have to subscribe. For Brain POP it is $115
- This is a link to some free options
- Can my students access this at home?
- Yes, they can. You just have to give them an access code
- Do they have videos that directly connect to my standards?
4. What is the Educator Code and why do I need it?
- The Educator Code is a special code we use to verify My BrainPOP teacher accounts. This is to comply with COPPA and helps us ensure that all student information is kept safe and private. You can get your school’s Educator Code by contacting your school or district’s administrator. If you don’t know who that is, no sweat! We can help you contact that person.
- Note that until you enter your Educator Code, you will not have access to My BrainPOP features.
5. What is a My BrainPOP class and how do I set one up?
- My BrainPOP “classes” are essentially virtual classes that teachers set up to manage different groups of students. They can correspond to actual classes, but they don’t have to. For example, you might set up a My BrainPOP class for all your Period 3 students; for a pull-out group; for a certain subject area; or even for an after-school club.
- To set up a class, log in to BrainPOP or BrainPOP Jr. using your My BrainPOP teacher account and click on “My Classes” from the My BrainPOP menu. You’ll be prompted to create a class. Name the class and assign it a special code. Your students will use this special code to join the class.
6. How do I invite students to join my class?
- After you set up your class, you’ll see instructions that explain what your students need to do to join that class. Students can get started by entering your class code in the ENTER CODE space on the top of any BrainPOP or BrainPOP Jr. page. From there students can either join your class using an existing My BrainPOP student account if they have one, or register for a new account. You can access these instructions anytime by selecting a class tab and clicking on “Manage Class.” We’ve also provided a handy print-out on which you can write your class code and then share with students. You may also want to write the class code on the board, post it on your LMS, or send it out via email.
7. Can I have more than one class?
- Yes! You can create as many classes as you want. They’ll show up in different tabs. In fact, your My BrainPOP classes don’t have to correspond to your actual classes. You can set up separate tabs for pull-out groups, different subject areas, or even after-school clubs.
