Sorting Shape Posters

1st Graders worked together to sort different shapes into groups of shapes that go together.  1st Graders discussed  the different groups the shapes could belong to and labeled their groups.  Some of the characteristics 1st Graders noticed were whether a shape had straight sides, curved sides,  and the number of sides and corners.

Max and Knox sorted their shapes into 4 groups: 4 sided shapes, 6 sided shapes, 3 sided shapes, and shapes with no sides (curved).

Kesem and K'maura sorted their shapes into 4 groups: triangles, quadrilaterals, shapes with curved sides, and shapes with 6 sides.

Darla and Miles sorted their shapes into 4 groups: triangles, shapes with six sides, quadrilaterals, and non-sides.

Maëline and Zaila sorted their shapes into 5 groups: circular shapes, quadrilaterals, triangles, shapes with 6 sides, and shapes with curved sides.
