In this unit, students will apply their knowledge of tools and work to create magnificent things as they work collaboratively to answer the unit guiding question: How do we create a magnificent thing?”
1st Graders voted on what they would like to create for our classroom from a list of ideas we brainstormed: Book Hospital, Scrap Paper Organizer, 1G mailbox, Marker Organizer, Library Book Return, Sharpen Me and Ready to Write Pencil Organizer, Lunch Card Holder and Box, or How to Draw Book Bin.
1st Graders began the planning process by describing the size, shape, color, and parts their magnificent thing has. Then, 1st Graders continued to make a plan by writing about what materials and tools they will use.
