Planning our Magnificent Things

In this unit, students will apply their knowledge of tools and work to create magnificent things as they work collaboratively to answer the unit guiding question: How do we create a magnificent thing?”

This week, students voted on what they would like to create for our classroom from a list of ideas we brainstormed: 1G mailbox, Art Supply Shelf Organizer, Heart Word Mobile, Clipboard Organizer, Book Hospital, and 1G Lost and Found.

1st Graders began the planning process by describing the size, shape, color, and parts their magnificent thing has. Then, 1st Graders continued to make a plan by writing about what materials and tools they will use.

What do you want to create for our classroom?

Knox, K'maura, and Maëline are describing the size, shape, color, and parts of 1G's mailbox.

Mahil, Kesem, and Cameron are describing the size, shape, color, and parts for the Art Supply Shelf Organizer.

Zaila and Darla are describing the size, color, and parts for 1G's Lost and Found.

Collaborating and Sharing

In their groups, 1st Graders discussed, shared, and drew their ideas for what they envision their Magnificent Thing to look like!
