Vonnie Maurhoff - TRES PALS Tutor
Hi! My name is Vonnie Maurhoff. My love for teaching started at an early age. My aunt who was a school teacher would clean out her desk at the end of each school year and bring me left over stickers, pencils and worksheets. I would line up my dolls and stuffed animals and play school for hours. As a young teenager I taught Sunday School and Bible School.
I started my teaching career in 1993 at a private preschool in Georgia teaching 3 and 4 year olds. After moving to Virginia, I went back to school and received my BA degree in History with a minor in Elementary Education Pre K- 6 from Mary Baldwin College in 2004. I accepted my first teaching position at Rockfish River Elementary School teaching Kindergarten. I then moved to Tye River Elementary School and taught Kindergarten for 15 years. I love teaching Kindergarteners!
I retired in 2020 and I am now blessed to be part of the reading literacy team at Tye River Elementary as a part-time PALS tutor. It is a joy helping children learn to read. It is a blessing working and teaching in the Nelson School community where my three children attended and my family has lived for 25 years!
