Greetings!
I am a graduate of Nelson County High School and have taught in Nelson County for over 10 years. I've taught ELA 8 and English 10-12, in addition to serving as the high school's English department chair, lead innovator, comprehensive needs assessment chair, and senior sponsor. Before Nelson, I taught English 10-12 and AP Literature and Composition for six years at Heritage High School in Lynchburg, VA. I earned my B.A. in English from Sweet Briar College and my M.Ed. In Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Reading Education from the University of Virginia. I am also a K-12 Reading Specialist. Reading is my passion, and my ultimate goal is to make sure my students have the opportunity to think of reading as fun so that they may loose (and find) themselves in what they read.
In addition to reading, I have three children ages 5, 9, and 10 who keep me very busy and I love to garden, run, fish, swim and go to the beach!
I look forward to working with our students, our schools, and our community as our new secondary reading and literacy specialist.
