I was born and raised Catholic, but attended public school. My four sons had the privilege of attending Catholic school for all of their k-12 education, and I am grateful for the quality of education that they received. I feel blessed to be a Catholic school educator and truly enjoy helping and teaching my students. I am a fervent supporter of a traditional and rigorous Catholic education, especially in today's climate.
While I was completing my M.Ed., I also completed the ENL certification through ACE in 2015. Both of my parents were professors/educators and fled Cuba to come to this country seeking freedom and opportunities. They always instilled the value of education to my brother and me throughout our childhood as it is an essential tool to succeed and prosper. I am dedicated and passionate in helping our Latino students do the same, and education is the vehicle necessary to accomplish their goals.
All of the different apparitions of Mary as I am a mother first, then a teacher. In my classroom I have Our Lady of Guadalupe (Mexico) and La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre (Cuba) proudly displayed. The school where I teach is Marian High School. They are all significant to me. I have four boys, but if I had a girl, my husband and I were going to name her Lourdes Maria.
