Friday, May 15th: Sight-reading Practice

Here is a great 5-minute practice video for you to follow along with! You can choose to sing your notes on a simple "doo-doo-doo" or "la-la-la." For an extra challenge, use solfege for the first couple minutes!

Time to brush up on our sigh-reading!

Friday, May 8: It's Talent Show Tech Week!

Questions? Reach out to Mrs. Walchenbach at lisaw@nca.school or lwalchenbach@ncalive.org

Read Me!

Your Talent Show videos are due one week from today (Friday, May 15) which means it's crunch time! Let's figure out what you can add to the show. You all are such a creative, unique, funny, brilliant bunch. The school is going to be blown away with your contributions!

Are you still mulling over the idea of participating? Get a sibling to do it with you, or a parent, or a pet!! Remember, you're not limited to music. Anything goes! You guys, the possibilities are endless...

Here are some HELPFUL TIPS:

  1. If you're recording a song, DO A QUICK SOUND CHECK by recording a short portion of the song to check the balance of your accompaniment track and voice (or instrument) before recording the whole song. There is nothing more frustrating than recording a stellar performance only to realize you can't hear your voice over the sound of the dishwasher/heater/fan/accompaniment...

  2. Want to sing a song, but don't have a piano player? Try searching for the name of your song on YouTube followed by "karaoke" or "track."

  3. Costumes make EVERYTHING better.

  4. USE YOUR TEACHERS! We are here to help you come up with a great idea and execute it.

  5. JUST DO IT! We are making history with this Virtual Talent Show. It's the first of its kind at NCA. Be a part of history!!

Most "Musical" Melody

April 22, 2020

Hello students! Today's choir lesson comes to us from Mrs. Fletcher. Have fun and sing along!

Lyrics:

"Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, Zip-a-dee-ay!

My, oh my, what a wonderful day!

Plenty of sunshine headin' my way!

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, Zip-a-dee-ay!"

Three ways to add musicality to your melody:

  1. Lengthen Vowels

  2. Percussive Consonants

  3. Shape the Phrases
