Hello First Grade!
Today, I have a very special guest with me with a surprising musical talent. I hope you will be blessed as you listen to her story and recognize how much God loves us and takes care of us.
Our music site will be up all summer, so if you have missed any lessons or want to repeat any of these lessons, feel free to visit anytime! You are also welcome to visit other grade levels too. Let me know if there was a lesson you loved, that helps me to plan for first graders next year!
It’s so hard to believe that today is our last post for the school year! I want you to know that you hold a special place in my heart. I will be praying for you and hope to see you next fall at school.
Remember, I love you!
With Joy, Mrs. York❤️

You’re a Grand Old Flag
You’re a grand old flag,
You’re a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You’re the emblem of
The land I love,
The home of the free and the brave.
Every heart beats true
Under red, white and blue,
Where there’s never a boast or a brag
But should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

You’re a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You’re the emblem of
The land I love,
The home of the free and the brave.
Every heart beats true
Under red, white and blue,
Where there’s never a boast or a brag
But should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag

Welcome back from Spring Break! I've been using our break to learn new ways to provide music opportunities for you.
I want you to know that I have missed you and have prayed for you. Tomorrow, I will post the greeting song. Each Wednesday and Friday there will be something new for you to try. Know that this is optional, but if you have time to watch and learn, your musical skills will continue to grow.
Scroll down for your first day of Music surprises!
Parents: I want to thank you for helping your child access and view my postings. I cannot fathom all the extra efforts you’ve had to go to to make our learning continue. Please know that I am especially grateful for you choosing to make music a part of your week in digital learning.
I also want you to know that I am making every effort to keep the videos as safe as I can for your child to view independently. I am now using SafeYouTube that generates a link to the Video without sidebars or ads. I have changed all previous video posts to be viewed in this way. I have also tried to address the issue with volume in my current videos and will have a much better microphone for future videos. Thank you for your patience as I am learning and growing in this as well.
Lastly, if for any reason you would like to contact me, please use my email, tyork@nca.school. I monitor this daily and would be glad to respond to any questions or issues that come up. I would love some feedback (be gentle, I’m learning) if you have an opportunity.
Musically yours,
Tammy York
Say, Say, Oh Playmate,
Say, Say, Oh Playmate,
Come out and play with me,
And bring your dollies three,
Climb up my apple tree,
Shout down my rain barrel,
Slide down my cellar door,
And we’ll be jolly friends forever more more, more-more.
So sorry, playmate, I cannot play with you,
My dolly’s got the flu, the mumps and measles too,
I’ve got no rain barrel, I’ve got no cellar door,
But we’ll be jolly friends forever more, more, more-more.
Here are a couple of other videos that you might find interesting. The first one is a variation of the clapping game and the second one is the musician, Ambre McLean and her version of the song, "Say, Say Oh Playmate" Enjoy!

Dear Music Friends,
I’ve missed seeing you and singing together. Our greeting song has a new twist, click on the first video to see what I have been up to while we’ve been apart.
Our last few weeks together we were beginning to learn some clapping games. Play the second video for a review and for a new one to learn.
I hope that you are singing and listening to music while at home, music has a way of putting joy into our hearts. I love you all!

Miss Mary Mack
(Mrs. York's short version)
Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
All dressed in black, black black
With silver buttons, buttons, buttons
All down her back, back, back
She jumped so high, high, high
She reached the sky, sky, sky
And she didn’t come back, back, back
‘Til the Fourth of July, -ly, ly.

Hello Music Friends! I'm so glad you stopped by. Here is our greeting song for the week. Remember, you can always look up our other songs on YouTube with your parents permission. Look below for a list of examples:
We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise
Praise Him, Praise Him All Ye Little Children
Praise the Name of Jesus
The below video is a recording of the song we have been learning, the ABC Jesus Song. This video includes the alphabet sign language we have been learning as well as sign language for the other words. if you would like to see the video at a slower speed, click the gear button at the bottom of the screen and change the speed of the video. Watching it slowly will help you learn the more difficult signs.
I have included the lyrics to one of our Patriotic songs that we will need to learn for our Spring Chapel Concert at the end of May. The video following will help you to learn the tune. Have Fun!
Love,
Mrs. York
