Submitting Video Assignments

This page covers guides and how-to's for uploading and submitting possible video assignments. You can use the link navigation to the left to quickly jump to a specific section. Use the bar at the top of this page to go to a different page topic.

Uploading to YouTube

If you're submitting a video assignment, a great way to share it is by uploading your video to YouTube as unlisted. This means only people who have the link can view it, so it won’t show up in search results or on your channel.

To do this, sign in to YouTube, click the Create button, and upload your video. When you get to the visibility settings, choose Unlisted. Once the upload is done, copy the video link and paste it into your assignment submission or forum post.

For a more in-depth tutorial, check out the linked videos showing a step-by-step processes, for both desktop and your mobile device.

Uploading to Google Drive

Once your video has been recorded, you can export it to your Google Drive and share it with your faculty/instructor(s), as well as your peers, if needed.

To share, you must change the Sharing Settings of the file to "allow anyone with the link" to view it. For more information on sharing files, see the Google Drive Sharing Files sections of the website.

Uploading files on the Google Drive mobile app is done the exact same as the desktop version, with clicking the + icon at the bottom right of your screen and selecting Upload File. For more a more detailed guide, see here.

We've also included a full video tutorial on uploading and sharing your files in Drive.

Uploading to Moodle

To submit a video assignment or video file to a forum post on Moodle, students can simply upload or embed their video directly into their post. If the video is hosted on platforms like YouTube or Echo360, you can embed the video link directly into Moodle, which makes it easy to share presentations, reflections, or recorded assignments with classmates and instructors.

Students are limited to the size of the file that can be uploaded as part of an assignment. In order avoid issues with file-size limitations, it is recommended that students host video files in another platform and submit the file as a shareable link.

We've included a step-by-step guide to adding your video assignment to a Moodle discussion post. Be sure to check it out!

Note: Video submission requirements will vary by course and instructor. If you are unsure, always ask for clarification.
