Student Support Site - Google Apps

At Nazareth University, we use Google Workspace, a suite of powerful tools including Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and more, to support your academic and professional needs. Every student, faculty, and staff member is provided with a personalized @naz.edu or @mail.naz.edu Google account, which gives you access to Gmail for email communications, Drive for cloud storage and file sharing, Calendar to manage your schedule and stay organized, as well as Docs, Sheets, and Slides for collaboration and assignment execution, and many more apps. These tools make it easy to collaborate on projects, communicate with your peers and instructors, and keep your academic life on track, all in one place.

Google Workspace Apps

Gmail is the mail client used by all of Naz, both faculty/staff and students, to send and receive email. It is also the username tied to the rest of your Google Apps, is extremely versatile and flexible in its abilities, and offers a range of viewing, filtering, and folder sorting mechanics to organize your work. Drive is a file storage system that allows you to sync information in multiple places over your Google account. With Naz, you receive 16 GB of free storage space. Drive can also be used to send files to other individuals or be accessed to turn in assignments in Moodle. Google offers training resources for Drive, which you can view here.

Calendar allows you to create, schedule, and manage events and appointments. These events can be shared with others, with the capability of inviting them as guests and/or event coordinators, and even has the ability to create virtual meetings through Google Meet or Zoom. Meet is a video conferencing service that enables you to join virtual meetings via audio, video, chat, and screen sharing. It offers a variety of features to customize your video experience. Chat is a communication tool that allows users to send messages, share files, and collaborate on projects within the Google ecosystem. It offers features like direct messaging, group chats, and spaces for more structured workstreams. Chat also integrates with other Google Apps, such as Gmail, Calendar, and Drive. Contacts is a digital address book and contact management tool. It allows users to store, organize, and manage contact information, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and more. Contacts are accessible across various devices when logged into a Google Account. Google offers training resources for Contacts, which you can view here.

Docs is a web-based word processing platform that allows you to create different word documents. It is accessed through your Google account, so it automatically saves and syncs, and you can share a doc with others or invite them to edit it in real time. Sheets is a web-based spreadsheet program that allows you to create, edit, and upload spreadsheets for use online. You can access your sheets anywhere through your Google account, and individuals can be invited to work together in real-time. Google offers training resources for Sheets, which you can view here.

Slides is a web-based presentation program where you can create a visual representation of your work. It allows you to share your presentation with individuals to view or edit in real-time as well as sync across your Google account. Slides is also compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint. Forms is a web-based survey administration platform where you can create and publish questionnaires, quizzes, and/or surveys to gather information from users, where the answers can then be reflected in a Sheet. Google offers training resources for Forms, which you can view here.

Sites is a web-based website building platform that allows you to create and manage your own webpages, without the need for coding. Sites can be worked on collaboratively, and offers a range of easy design tools and embeds, working with Sheets, Docs, and Forms. Google offers training resources for Sites, which you can view here.

Classroom is a web-based learning management system (LMS) for educators to manage and organize their digital classrooms. Users can create assignments, share resources, and communicate with students, while students can access materials, submit work, and collaborate with peers.
