Hello 4th grade parents!
I am excited to announce Lilja School's 10th annual Turkey Trot Fun Run. This fun run is for students in the 3/4 classrooms along with the rest of the 4th grade classes. Over the past 2 1/2 months, the 4th grade students have been using GPS watches to track their distance, time, pace, average pace, and the number of times they stopped during their runs. The students at the end of each run record their data and monitor their progress from class to class to become better runners. Each class, the students add 30 seconds onto their running time to help them improve their aerobic fitness levels. They are now up to more than 10 minutes of continuous running and they are ready for the Turkey Trot Fun Run. This event teaches students about goal setting, motivation, the importance of aerobic fitness, perseverance, taking pride in their accomplishments, and school unity.
Please come and support your child/children on Wednesday November 27th at 10:45 for Lilja school’s 10th annual Turkey Trot Fun Run. The students will have a choice to run either 2 or 3 laps around Sergeant Field and Lilja school. I will also need a few parent volunteers along the course to help monitor the students as they run around the school and three volunteers to organize post-race snacks. .
Thank you for making this year's Turkey Trot one to remember.
