News from the Secretary

The Secretary is an elected position in the Nar-Anon Family Groups Southern California Region. It has a two-year term.

The secretary works very closely with the three other regional officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer) and is a voting member of the Regional Service Committee.

Regional Information:

• New Groups – All new groups forming must be registered online with WSO and must fill out a group registration form with the region before we can add them to our directory. Please see registration form attached to this agenda.

Responsibilities of Secretary:

• Attend our Regional Service Committee (RSC) monthly meetings, which are conducted via telephone conference call. Attend our Regional Assembly (RA) meetings, which are held in person in January, April, July, and October of each year.
• Before each RSC and RA meeting, work with the Chair to help develop an agenda, to prepare various regional documents on our region drive and service website pages, and to finalize a Secretary’s report of my activities for the month.
• During each monthly RSC conference call and during each quarterly RA meeting, responsible for taking minutes of the proceedings.
• After each RSC conference call and after each RA meeting, produce a draft of the minutes within two weeks. Once approved by the committee, post the draft minutes to our regional service website. Finally, alert members via email so they can review and make changes or comments on these draft minutes.
• Maintain a long-term archive of the RSC conference call minutes and the RA meeting minutes, including any motions.
• Regarding our Nar-Anon Family Groups World Service Conferences, submit an official copy of the approved RA meeting minutes as appropriate to the WS Conference Committee to verify the election or continued endorsement of our regional delegate and regional alternate delegate.
