Class: Opioid antagonist
Action: Binds the opioid receptor and blocks the effect of narcotics
Indications: Narcotic overdoses, reversal of narcotics used for procedure related anesthesia.
Adverse Effects: Nausea/vomiting, restlessness, diaphoresis, tachycardia, hypertension, seizures, cardiac arrest, narcotic withdrawal. **GIVE SMALL amounts to support respirations**
Contraindications: Known sensitivity to Narcan supraventricular arrhythmias or other cardiac diseases, head trauma, brain tumor.
Special Considerations: Pregnancy Class C - SLOW Push

Adults:
IV 0.4 - 2mg SLOW
IO 0.4 - 2mg SLOW
IM 2mg
ET 2mg
IN 2mg briskly with MAD
Pediatrics:
0.1mg/kg to MAX of 2mg
