• Class: Opioid antagonist 

• Action: Binds the opioid receptor and blocks the effect of narcotics

• Indications: Narcotic overdoses, reversal of narcotics used for procedure related anesthesia. 

• Adverse Effects: Nausea/vomiting, restlessness, diaphoresis, tachycardia, hypertension, seizures, cardiac arrest, narcotic withdrawal. **GIVE SMALL amounts to support respirations**

• Contraindications: Known sensitivity to Narcan supraventricular arrhythmias or other cardiac diseases, head trauma, brain tumor.

• Special Considerations: Pregnancy Class C - SLOW Push

Dosages:

Adults: 

• IV 0.4 - 2mg SLOW

• IO 0.4 - 2mg SLOW

• IM 2mg 

• ET 2mg 

• IN 2mg briskly with MAD

Pediatrics:

0.1mg/kg to MAX of 2mg
