"KVA‘s educational system is certainly working for [my daughter] and we are fortunate to have it especially during these times . [My older daughter, a graduate of KVA] is also progressing well at [her post-secondary institution], her first term report indicated almost every subject in the 90’s so having the experience of online/self directed learning previously was definitely beneficial for [her] as well. "Good Afternoon, I just wanted to touch base with you to say ... thank you. I just attempted Jason's first IPP meeting and I have to say it was a positive one. The resource teacher who administered Jason's assessment last week said in all her years she had never have a student get 100% on the assessment before. She and his math teacher feel Jason doesn't require an IPP and will be monitoring Jason in the coming months in order to remove him from it. They made a point to tell me how confident he is in mathematics and that he isn't afraid to ask for help. Truly as a parent this was the best meeting I have ever had regarding Jason's academic performance and I attribute that to the learning experience he had at Kings View Academy. Jason enjoyed his time there this summer and we are hopeful there will be an opportunity to do it again next year!"

"Hi Dr. MacDonald, I'm pretty sure my mom already mentioned to you that I'm going to work from home today, but I just wanted to let you know just in case. anyways, I'm really emailing you because I wanted to let you know that I am absolutely loving KVA! I love how supportive the teachers are, I love the kids, I love the system and I love everything! It makes me excited to come to school every morning! Furthermore, I really appreciate all you've done for me, and how you always try your absolute best at everything you do for the school. I really appreciate how enthusiastic you are about teaching and encouraging kids to learn, and I couldn't ask for any better math teacher. KVA is by far the best school I've ever been too!"

"The KVA model is very rewarding because the teachers and students become well acquainted personally. It’s possible for teachers to gain a deep understanding of each student’s specific goals and strategies for learning. I know I’m not wasting anybody’s time by teaching them what they already know because every student’s program is tailored to them. For example in the music department we have a number of students who have been playing instruments for years so they are given exercises and assignments to improve their skill, while other students have never picked up an instrument before but quickly are able to join the band. This is simply impossible in a typical high school music class.

The visual arts department is especially satisfying because of our silkscreening program. Students create work that is very personal as we can print any design from their imaginations onto their own clothes. There is no “one-size-fits-all” work at KVA and the excitement and enthusiasm is contagious. "

"Teaching with KVAs educational model has allowed me to engage with students on a one to one basis, thereby understanding how each student learns and which methods are optimal in achieving learning outcomes. I am able to observe how the low stress approach facilitates the students to learn at their own pace and develop the techniques required to achieve their goals. The availability of the well resourced laboratory, which is constantly growing with new equipment and experiments, greatly complements the science courses and adds to the learning methods that I am able to use in school. My personal highlight is seeing the students grow into self-directed learners and develop the skills necessary to succeed here and in their futures. "
