Since I could remember, I have been a fan of superhero shows and movies. I would even play an imaginary superhero game in my head. After an illness in high school, I began writing a book about the imaginary game. Years later, as a student at CI, I am almost done and started a sequel book.
My creative writing project was taking a short story that was written in a Science Fiction class and turning it into the start of a sequel book. This book will primarily follow James Mcbrown, who eventually becomes Infinite Guardian. The book will showcase the mourning of a friend, losing a sense of identity, rediscovering himself, and realizing his purpose in the world. This is after his friend, Frank Hiro, dies as Captain Infinity.
At the beginning of this project, I spent time researching. In this research process, I observed a couple of superhero books in the DC Icon series. I also looked at shows and movies made from Marvel and DC comics, and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series.
While writing my story, the developing story was getting more amazing as I adapted my research into the art of crafting in my world-building. This is because it allowed me to get inspiration from the influences I mentioned in the previous paragraph. As a result, I have expanded my short story into a part of a bigger story.
That being said, I have learned how to add descriptions and remove repetitive phrases. I also have learned that everyone can have a different style or theme they are conveying despite having a similar interest. Overall, I have learned that various types of books are determined based on word count. For instance, my books would be considered novelettes rather than novels based on my word count.
