Remembrance

the inspiration behind this collection of short stories was the experience that I went through, it shifted something in me to create a form of media to make sure that this "hidden" illness gets spoken about more. many children and women go undiagnosed because of their symptoms being played off or not taken seriously, which unfortunately happened to me.
During this project, the experience itself was worth it. it made me as a writer understand myself and my emotions better. this experience itself has allowed me as an individual to understand truly how much I've taken the simple things for granted. I never had anticipated that I would learn so much from this experience and being able to share my story with others is a chance, for me, to spread awareness for this" hidden" illness. initially, I struggled with finding the most accurate information to provide in these slides, as well as my paper itself.
Hello, my name is iliana, and given the title of this, it may seem that I'm dead but rest assured I'm not! in light spirits, this memoir is a collection of short stories that happened to me when I was first diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. in hindsight, I had never known of the illness and didn't know it existed. with this collection of short stories, I hope to bring more awareness to this condition and possibly help someone who currently struggling with it. this condition itself doesn't define me as an individual or what I'm capable of doing, but it gives me motivation to keep working harder and doing as much as I can for those who can't.
The purpose of this Memoir is to spread awareness and bring light to this hidden diagnosis, that more than often goes hidden for patients. in this memoir, my goal as the writer is to make the audience feel the emotions I felt, to have them understand what it's like to miss out on certain events because of this condition. some might not have this but will feel the impact of it when reading this collection of short stories.
