What is Podcasting?
Podcasting can be a fun way to get your kids to share their voice in any content area. Podcasts are a screen-free, movement-enabling, ear-stimulating and eye-opening way to deliver content. With podcasts, you can choose the content and form that fits your particular lesson, and the possibilities are endless: fictional stories, educational and inspirational TED talks, current events/world news, history, sports, pop culture/entertainment, and investigative journalism. Podcasts expose students to a wide variety of methods of communication, including narration, casual dialogue, scripted dialogue, and interviews.
Podcasting is FREE for Higley teachers! Here's how Melinda pulled it off with her students.
For their Black History podcast projects, Melinda had her students use Canvas Studio to record their podcast. Melinda then created a Wakelet, gave it a title, and invited her students to collaborate on the Wakelet. This allowed students to upload their finished podcast recording where everyone in the class could listen to each other's podcast.
