Assignment Overview: Students used Microsoft Flip (formerly Flipgrid) and visited different stations to complete tasks to earn as many points as possible in 30 minutes.
Flip Hunt Specifics: Jody created fifteen tasks she wanted students to complete and listed them in chart shown below. She printed a copy for each student so they could keep track of the stations they visited and their points earned. There is also a column on the chart that indicates whether the task is an individual task (I), should be completed in partners (P), or if it is a group task (G). Many of the tasks were related to what the students had been learning in class, such as Main Idea and Characterization, but Jody also included some tasks that were just for fun like spelling out the letters Y-M-C-A.
The students moved between stations with their laptops. Once they were at a station, they found the corresponding topic in Flip and recorded their responses to earn points. The screenshot below shows a sample of the stations they could choose from in Flip.
This #Fliphunt actively engaged 100% of her students, and they were able to practice what they had been learning while having fun.
