Stop Motion Animation is a technique where objects are filmed frame-by-frame so that they appear as if they’re moving when played back at normal speed. Claymation is a type of stop motion that uses clay as the objects being manipulated.
Katie introduced stop motion and storyboarding to the students and used these two videos as examples:
Students worked in groups to begin their brainstorm and storyboard their ideas. Katie left the project open ended, and ultimately loved the creativity that the students displayed in their final product.
Katie introduced students to Cloud Stop Motion. This is the stop motion software students used to create their claymations. Students then refined their ideas and storyboards.
Students built their sets with green and blue construction paper to represent ground and sky. Then they began animating.
This video tutorial will show you how to create stop motion animation using Google Slides. Keep in mind that this can also be done in PowerPoint if you are more familiar with Microsoft's software.
