Purpose: The district Tech Mentors meet with the district technology coaches each month to discuss various technology tools and learn ways of integrating technology into their lessons. The Tech Mentors serve as the first layer of support for instructional technology at each school site. Teachers can reach out to them for basic tech tool troubleshooting, technology integration ideas, and tips and resources.
Learning: The Tech Mentors learn about a new tool or technology resource from the coaches each month, and then they are asked to share the learning with their colleagues at each site before their next meeting.
So far this year, the Tech Mentors have learned about:
being intentional about technology integration in the classroom using the SAMR model
creating digital exit tickets and why they are a beneficial formative assessment strategy
how students can use Google Sheets to create pixel art
During the first meeting of the year, the Tech Mentor Team participated in a hands-on sorting activity and gallery walk to discuss how different activities and tech tools can be viewed through the lens of SAMR.
The team enjoys sharing new ideas and learning from each other. Each month, two or three Tech Mentors present a tech tool or idea that they love, and use in class with their students, to the group.
