Elementary

Namaste, campers! In Week 9 (August 10-14) our Elementary explorers will travel to India to discover a culture rich with color, music, storytelling, and art. Campers will hear folktales from the Panchatantra, explore traditional celebrations, and learn about the landscapes and traditions that shape life in India.

Stories & Culture: Indian folktales from the Panchatantra and stories about traditions and celebrations
Art & Creativity: Rangoli designs using colored sand or chalk, mandala art, and henna inspired drawing
Music & Movement: Bollywood music, rhythmic clapping, and traditional dance inspired movement
Gross Motor Activities: Kho Kho (tag style game), Kabaddi inspired movement games, and relay races
Food & Taste: Naan bread, rice, lentils (dal), yogurt, and mango slices
STEM Fun: Explore symmetry and geometry in mandala designs, investigate patterns in rangoli art, and map geography of India

Campers will celebrate the vibrant art, stories, and traditions of India while building creativity, movement skills, and cultural awareness.

Children's House

A Sprinkling of India: Our Children’s House campers will enjoy a gentle introduction to the colorful traditions of India during Week 9 (August 10-14) through stories, art, music, and movement. These theme activities are available during the routine morning work cycle in our Children's House classroom.

Art invitations may include creating rangoli designs with colored sand or chalk, mandala coloring, and henna inspired pattern drawing.

Music and movement may include listening to lively Indian music, exploring rhythmic clapping, and moving to joyful dance rhythms.

Practical life experiences may include tasting naan bread, rice, yogurt, or mango while learning simple greetings.

Dress-up scarves and decorative fabrics will encourage imaginative play as children explore the beauty and traditions of India.
