Elementary
Konnichiwa, campers! In Week 7 (July 27-31) our Elementary explorers will travel to Japan to discover traditions that blend ancient culture with modern life. Campers will learn about samurai and shoguns, explore temples and shrines, and discover how art, nature, and mindfulness shape Japanese culture. Through folktales such as Momotaro and stories about life in Japan, students will experience the beauty and traditions of this fascinating country.
Stories & Culture: Japanese folktales including Momotaro, and stories about temples, traditions, and daily life in Japan
Art & Creativity: Origami folding, cherry blossom painting, calligraphy with brushes, and koi fish artwork
Music & Movement: Taiko drumming, traditional Japanese music, and simple fan dance movements
Gross Motor Activities: Japanese inspired games, relay races, and cooperative movement challenges
Food & Taste: Rice balls (onigiri), edamame, cucumber rolls, noodles, and fresh fruit
STEM Fun: Explore symmetry through origami, patterns in Japanese art, and map geography of East Asia
Campers will experience the beauty, traditions, and creativity of Japan through art, movement, storytelling, and hands-on discovery.
