Elementary

¡Hola, campers! In Week 8 (August 3-7) our Elementary explorers will travel to Spain to discover castles, art, music, and lively traditions. Campers will learn about famous artists such as Picasso and Miró, explore the history of Spanish castles, and discover how music and dance are part of everyday culture in Spain.

Stories & Culture: Spanish folktales and stories about Spanish traditions and daily life
Art & Creativity: Gaudí inspired mosaic art, fan painting, and flamenco dancer artwork
Music & Movement: Flamenco music, rhythmic clapping patterns, and movement to Spanish guitar
Gross Motor Activities: Soccer, capture the flag, and cooperative outdoor games
Food & Taste: Tapas including cheese, olives, bread with olive oil, and fruit
STEM Fun: Explore architectural patterns in Gaudí mosaics, map geography of Spain, and learn basic Spanish words

Campers will experience the music, art, and vibrant traditions of Spain through creativity, movement, and hands-on exploration.

Children's House

A Sprinkling of Spain: Our Children’s House campers will enjoy a playful introduction to the culture of Spain Week 8 (August 3-7) through music, art, and movement. The theme is layered on top of a traditional morning work cycle in a Children's House classroom.

The art shelf will include painting decorative fans, creating colorful mosaic designs, and making tissue paper flowers.

Music and movement plans include listening to Spanish guitar music, clapping rhythmic patterns, and exploring simple dance movements.

Practical life experiences may include tasting bread with olive oil, cheese, and fruit while learning a few Spanish words.

Dress-up scarves, fans, and colorful skirts will encourage imaginative exploration of Spain’s lively culture.
