Elementary
Greetings, travelers! In Week 1 (June 8-12) our Elementary campers will prepare for the exciting journeys ahead by becoming world explorers in training. Before we begin traveling to new countries each week, campers will learn how people prepare for international adventures. We will create personal travel passports, explore maps of the world, and research destinations to discover important landmarks, climates, and cultural traditions. Campers will also learn about photography and observation so they are ready to capture the sights and experiences of their travels throughout the summer.
Stories & Culture: Stories about travel and exploration, world maps and globes, learning how people travel and discover new places
Art & Creativity: Designing personal travel passports, decorating luggage tags, creating travel journals and postcards
Music & Movement: Travel themed songs, rhythm games inspired by different cultures, and movement activities representing travel by land, sea, and air
Gross Motor Activities: Cooperative travel themed games, relay races, and outdoor exploration challenges
Food & Taste: Simple picnic style snacks and refreshing summer treats that travelers might enjoy on a journey
STEM Fun: Study climates to decide what to pack, explore map reading and directions, learn basic photography skills, and practice observation like real explorers
By the end of the week, campers will be ready to begin their global adventure with their passports in hand and their curiosity set on discovering cultures from around the world.
