Kent Buse, Professor of Health Policy, is a political economist with expertise in health policy analysis. He served as the inaugural Director of the Healthier Societies Program at The George Institute for Global Health, Imperial College London. He previously taught at Yale University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and served for over a decade as head of strategy and policy at UNAIDS.
He is the co-founder and co-CEO of Global Health 50/50, a leading advocacy and accountability organisation for gender justice in global health that has influenced changes in the practices and policies of several governments and dozens of global health organisations.
He is a passionate analyst, strategist, and writer on global health and social justice. With a career dedicated to advancing equity and evidence-informed policy, he has advised leaders across sectors on strategic and policy initiatives that shape global and national health agendas. His work focuses primarily on the politics of health policy, particularly in the areas of governance, sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV/AIDS, and international development cooperation.
An accomplished author, his publications range from a best-selling textbook to timely opinion pieces featured in leading national and international media outlets. He is also the co-founder of Global Health 50/50, an initiative committed to advancing gender equality in global health.
