Dr Lydia Pratanu is a clinical cytogeneticist and genetic counselor with over three decades of experience in prenatal, pediatric, and cancer cytogenetics. She currently serves as Head of the Molecular Genetic Laboratory at Harapan Kita Women and Children Hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia, and as Executive Secretary of the hospital’s Birth Defects Integrated Centre (BIDIC).
Dr Pratanu earned her MD and Master’s in Biomedical Science from Airlangga University and completed advanced training in clinical cytogenetics in Australia and Canada, including a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Science from the University of Indonesia.
A committed educator and researcher, Dr Pratanu lectures at Krida Wacana Christian University and has led or contributed to multiple national research initiatives, including projects on non-invasive prenatal testing and thalassemia genomics. She is an active member of the Indonesian Society of Human Genetics and has authored numerous publications on chromosomal abnormalities, birth defects, and precision medicine.
