Dr Yap Wei Aun Is currently serving as the CEO of the Health Transformation Office within the Ministry of Health.
Prior to rejoining the Ministry of Health, Wei Aun was consulting for the World Bank and the World Health Organization. He also served as the Country Technical Director for the Malaysia Health Systems Research project, a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Harvard University, which resulted in the initiation of reforms such as the establishment of ProtectHealth Corporation, the Ministry’s strategic purchaser.
His clinical experiences include serving on the frontlines in a variety of hospital and clinic setting—in the United Kingdom, rural Sarawak, and Kuala Lumpur.
Wei Aun received his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, Master of Public Health (MPH) from Harvard University, and completed his membership exams for admission into the Royal College of Physicians (London).
