Uniformed Groups
Uniformed Groups
You decide to follow this youth dressed so smartly in his green uniform. After introducing himself as Hafiz an alumni from NCC, he walks you to the parade square and towards a group of cadets who are all in position. Such discipline. Impressive. You watch on as Hafiz shouts commands and they turn sharply and march off.
You have always been curious to know how cadets are trained in these uniformed groups. You walk towards Hafiz who smiles and shares memories of the CCA.
‘My CCA is my second family. Look at me now and you might find it hard to believe that I used to be a very timid boy who feared to talk to people or socialise. With help from my CCA mentors and seniors, I found courage to step out of my comfort zone. My CCA mentor kept pushing me to the limit, to shape me into a better person. My seniors kept reminding me that it’s really about me fighting to be the best of myself. Just like how my family holds me together, my mentors and seniors never allow me to give in to challenges. Now, I am able to talk to anyone with confidence and pride.’
After listening to Hafiz, you understand now why he refers to his CCA as his family.
