Every Student can Achieve!

The student introduces himself as Jihao and shares what the school believes of every student - every student is made for greatness.

'In BLS, we focus on enjoying the process of learning when we try and do new things. We learn so that we can be better versions of ourselves. And when we put our heart and soul to becoming better, greatness comes naturally!'

The idea of putting your heart and soul to something really resonates with you. You ask him, 'What is your favourite learning experience in school then?'

'If I've to share an experience, it would be how I challenge myself by taking part in competitions! I'm very fortunate to have two such opportunities - the National Mandarin Oratorical Competition, and the HP Young Technopreneur Challenge.'

'Tell me more! How did you do in these competitions?'

'Well, I managed to come in 3rd place in the oratorical competition,' Jihao blushes a little. 'The journey wasn't easy but I was never alone. I had teachers to guide me through highs and lows, and friends to give me unconditional support. It was a rewarding learning experience because I'm more confident now to take up new challenges.'

'What about the other competition?' you query.

'I would like to quote my team mate, Reever. Our biggest takeaway from the Technopreneur Challenge is that we learn to be flexible and adaptable. Because of our willingness to try, and fail, and try again, we overcame all odds. This mindset helped us clinch 1st runner-up and our idea of converting expired medicine into fertiliser, which allowed us to win the Most Innovative Idea Award. We may not be the best but we have become better learners and thinkers.'
